Mel + Coleman “We are like chalk and cheese – we complement and bring out the best in each other.”

When I first met Mel we instantly clicked and still today we are friends!  I know this post is dated 2015 but I am writing this in Sept 2016! (yes I know… long story for this late blog! ha ! ) but we are still friends and they now are a little family of three! Welcome little Sonny!

I am so chuffed to say that I have photographed the Save The Date shoot, wedding and little bubba!

Starting at their engagement party and save the date session… yep both rained out!  So Mel, was convinced she was cursed and her wedding day was going to be a wash out as well! However destiny played its part and they were blessed with the most perfect day at the most perfect  Maleny Hinterland wedding venue Maleny Manor!

Such a memorable weekend  for you all  and wow what a venue! Marlene and the MM team certainly know how to welcome with love!  Enjoy this love story!

Love Story

“Thinking back on it now, I never would have imagined that the first time I met Coleman, years later we would become husband & wife. We first met at an iconic local Rocky pub, The Oxford Hotel through a mutual friend. Coleman was currently in the Netherlands on a 2 year visa playing Rugby & happened to be home for the Christmas break. When we were first introduced, to be honest, you wouldn’t say it was love at first sight, however as the night went on, we obviously grew more fond of each other.  Coleman was only home for 2 weeks before heading back overseas for another year. We caught up a couple of times in the time he was home & continued to keep in contact once he returned to the Netherlands. A year later when he returned, we picked up where we left off & the rest you would say is history 🙂

2.5 years of dating & 2 home purchases later, Coleman proposed on the night of his 29th Birthday. After a delicious dinner at one of our favourite restaurants, we arrived home & Coleman asked that I wait outside. I could hear him racing around inside on the polished wooden floors & wondered what on earth he was doing. When I was eventually allowed back inside, I was greeted with dozens of glistening tea light candles, a beautiful cake with the words “Will you marry me?” and of course, Coleman down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I’ve ever laid eyes on! I was in total disbelief that he would choose to do this on his birthday (strategic thinking on his behalf of course, haha) but completely over the moon & so excited! It now made sense why Coleman was sweating bullets at dinner 🙂 Vows

I Melanie, take you Coleman, to be my husband. You are one of the most amazing men I have ever met. You make me smile, you make me laugh / you make me omelettes / and most of all, you make me happy. I cannot believe how lucky I am / to be standing here with you today / about to become your wife.

I promise to accept you as you are / value you opinions, encourage your dreams, appreciate you and never take you for granted. I promise to make you laugh every day / … even though I know you don’t always understand my sense of humour. I promise to help shoulder our challenges /  for there is nothing we cannot face if we stand together. I promise to continue cooking you delicious meals from jars and packets / … until you finally give in and buy me a Thermomix. I promise to show you the love you have shown me since the day we met. You are a surprise / no two days are ever the same, each day is better than the last. You make me a better man / you make me think / You confuse me / but most of all you make me smile. When it came to planning our wedding, who we would choose as our photographer was a no brainer – of course it would be Carissa (Capture the Moment). From the very first contact we had with Carissa, we were made to feel special. Carissa recommended a Save the Date shoot to which we were quite apprehensive about but so glad we did it! We were taught a few ‘skills’ for the big day how to pose without looking too awkward (something I’m good at). Although it poured raining, we had such a fun afternoon & our photos were nothing short of amazing!

As for the Wedding Day – where do I start! Carissa traveled to the Sunshine Coast to photograph our wedding at Maleny Manor. She arrived before the allocated time, which was great as she was able to capture even more special moments of the girls & I getting ready! Nothing was too much trouble & Carissa really contributed to the smooth running of the entire day! The bridal party had such a fun time whilst out with Carissa & I think this is truly reflected in the absolutely beautiful photos we received! Even 18months later, Coleman & I have the biggest smiles on our faces when we look through our wedding photos – they really are nothing short of perfect!

Not only is Carissa a truly talented photographer, she has also become a great friend. We will continue to use have Carissa capture all our family milestones & celebrations & would not hesitate in recommending her to anyone looking for an amazing photographer.
