Hi, I’m Carissa.
I’ve been photographing weddings for over 15 years now… which honestly feels a bit wild to say out loud. I’m also a mum to three boys, and through life doing its thing, we’ve now got this beautifully blended family of six grown sons. It’s big, a little chaotic, very full of love and I think that’s shaped everything about how I see the world.
Because for me, it’s always been about people. Connection. Kindness. The ones you love in that deep, slightly overwhelming way—the ones that make your heart race a bit, or your eyes well up, or just stay with you long after a moment has passed.
And maybe this sounds strange… but the world feels really fast to me. Like, too fast. Photography is the thing that slows it all down. It changes how I see, how I feel everything in front of me. It makes me notice… and not just notice, but really stay there for a second and take it in.
I’m always drawn to the small things—the quiet in-between moments most people miss. A hand squeeze, a breath, the way you look at each other when no one else is paying attention… and then the complete opposite too—the wild laughter, the movement, the messy, beautiful energy of it all. That mix is everything to me.
I think that’s why I love black and white so much. It kind of strips everything back… gives you space to breathe. The noise fades out, and what actually matters just stays there, clear and honest. That’s how I see photography. Moving, real, deeply loved, intentionally peaceful… or at least, that’s what I’m always chasing.
When I’m with you, I’m not there to direct every second or turn things into something they’re not. I just step in, open-hearted, paying attention, letting things unfold as they naturally do—unfiltered, untamed, and beautifully real. Big landscapes, tiny moments, everything in between.
And authenticity—yeah, I know, that word gets thrown around a lot. But to me it’s not a buzzword… it’s how I actually connect with you. It’s understanding your love languages, how you are together, what matters to you. It’s holding space for that, gently, without judgment, without expectation.
I’m proudly an LGBTQ+ ally, and truly—everyone is welcome here. All love, all stories, all ways of being. I care deeply about creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and completely yourself.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about photos. It’s about you being able to feel it all again later… exactly as it was. And really, properly savour it.
As I grow older, the art of noticing becomes more profound—the quiet beauty in nature, the stillness, the way time slows when you truly pay attention. Nature calls me to be still, to listen, to feel.
I find inspiration in stories told through film, the pulse of new places, the kindness of those closest to me, and the unexpected warmth of strangers. I carry these moments, collecting them like treasures, each one shaping the way I see love.
We all have a story. Mine is one of love, heart, soul-crushing upheaval, and ultimately, profound peace and deeper love. And in this journey of life, I pour everything I’ve learned—everything I’ve treasured—into my work.
Because at the end of the day, what really counts is love and kindness.
Don’t mind me if I tear up during a heartfelt movie—I’m just feeling all the feels.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me soaking up slow mornings on our five-acre home with my husband, coffee in hand, as we let the chooks out, pick fresh eggs, and play with our pygmy goats, Louie, Gerti, and Rosi, along with our sheep, ducks, and whatever else decides to wander by. Nature is my grounding force, and there’s nothing better than a foggy mountain morning or a salty ocean breeze to reset my soul.
I’m a country girl at heart, equally obsessed with cozy log fires on crisp winters night and the magic of summer evenings under the stars. Give me a margarita for a summer disco night or a good red by the fire with my favourite person, and I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Creativity and music run deep in my family—while my boys are the musos, I’m the one dancing to *Mamma Mia* like nobody’s watching.
Travel and solace fuels my creativity, whether it’s exploring a new city, getting lost in a local market, or witnessing love unfold in breathtaking destinations. I’ll always say *yes* to an adventure.
That’s a little glimpse into my world. But no matter who we are or where we come from, we’re all souls wandering this earth with a story to tell. And that’s why I’m so passionate about documenting love—because no two stories are ever the same. Maybe yours is next?
I am a Taurus, an ambivert, empath, and a 2/4 Projector— a mix of grounded energy, deep emotions, adventurous spirit, and intuitive storytelling. My research into this has been interestingly spot on, shaping everything from how I connect with my couples to how I capture love in its most raw and breathtaking form.
Rooted in nature, emotion, and experience, I see beyond the surface—holding space for your story, your love, and the moments that matter most. My approach is intentionally authentic, capturing your day with depth, artistry, and heart.
The first time I was handed a full-frame film camera, I bent down to my one-year-old son’s level, capturing him as he carefully balanced a tiny ball on a spoon. When I developed that photo, I fell in love all over again—not just with the softness, clarity, and bokeh, but with how a single image could freeze that fleeting moment forever. It was imprinted on film, but more than that, it was imprinted on my soul.
That feeling has never left me. Photography is my way of preserving the unspoken moments—so you don’t just see your story, you feel it.
